Top Left: Aaron Larosche, Pivot Engineers (sponsor); Top Right: Amir Yaghoob Farnam, Drexel University, Moderator; Middle Left: Majed Karam, University of Toronto, First Place Awardee; Middle Right: Somashekar Viswanath, University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, 2nd Place Awardee; Bottom: Parsa Namaki Araghi, Drexel University, 3rd place awardee. ACI Committee 123, Research and Current Developments announced the winner of the Fall 2020 Concrete Research Poster Contest held during the recent ACI Virtual Concrete Convention. A total of 18 graduate students took part in the two-part virtual session on Thursday, October 29, 2020 on the final day of the convention. Pivot Engineers sponsored the cash prizes for three award categories: 1st Place: Assessing the Differential Fluid-Penetration Resistance in the Concrete Cover Through Formation Factor Mapping Presented By: Majed Karam Affiliation: University of Toronto 2nd Place: Experimental Investigation of the Capacity and Behavior of Concrete under Uniaxial Compressive Fatigue Loading Presented By: Somashekar Viswanath Affiliation: University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign 3rd Place: Mechanical Evaluation of 3D-Printed Fiber Reinforced Polymer (FRP) as Alternative for Concrete Reinforcement Presented By: Parsa Namakiaraghi Affiliation: Drexel University The ACI 123 Concrete Research Poster Session complements the existing Research in Progress and Open Topic sessions, and provides further opportunity for the presentation of original, unpublished results from ongoing research projects and leading-edge concrete technology throughout the world. Learning Objectives: (1) Recognize ongoing structural research projects from a wide range of research topics; (2) Discuss recent techniques, research methods, and procedures related to structural aspects of concrete research; (3) Describe emerging ideas in structural concrete research; (4) Summarize recent technical information related to structural concrete research. The Call for Papers for the Spring 2021 Concrete Research Poster Session will be posted in January. Lear more about ACI Call for Papers.
