Past Conferences

The first edition of the conference was introduced in 2019 with collaboration between the American Concrete Institute (ACI) and Jordan Concrete Association. The ACI Concrete Conference on Materials & Design was held in November 2019 in Amman, Jordan.

The 2-day conference attracted nearly 200 attendees from various countries, including Iraq, Djibouti, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, and the United Arab Emirates. Hosted at the Jordan Royal Scientific Society, leading experts were on hand to teach concrete professionals about topics such as fiber-reinforced polymer composites for reinforced concrete construction, mass concrete, and troubleshooting concrete construction. Dr. Randall Poston, ACI Past President and past Chair of ACI Committee 318, Structural Concrete Building Code, led a full-day session on the newly released ACI 318-19, “Building Code Requirements for Structural Concrete and Commentary.”

The second edition of this regional conference went virtual on 16-17 November 2020. ACI Concrete Conference main topics were Sustainability & Durability.

The free 2-day conference attracted nearly 400 attendees from 44 countries across the Middle East, Asia, Europe, South America, and North America. Leading experts were on hand to give sessions on the impact fiber-reinforced polymer has on durability, the role climate change plays on the sustainability of concrete, life expectancy of concrete structures, and other topics of interest to the concrete community.

ACI’s international activities are a major force in creating and maintaining a worldwide community of individuals and organizations supplying and accessing knowledge on concrete. Cooperating closely with International Partners and international ACI Chapters benefits everyone in the global concrete community.

On 9-10 March 2022, the American Concrete Institute and the ACI UAE Chapter hosted the third edition of ACI-MEC 2022, the ACI Concrete Conference on Innovation in Dubai, UAE. The 2-day conference was held at The Address Dubai Mall to over 200 attendees from 12 different countries.

The ACI Concrete Conference on Innovation brought together engineers, architects, researchers, suppliers, producers, and academics from around the world to exchange their experiences and discuss innovative and emerging technologies for the concrete industry and the built environment. Keynote speakers for the conference included ACI President (2021-2022) Cary S. Kopczynski and NEx Executive Director Jerzy Z. Zemajtis, PhD, PE.
