Students from around the world have traveled to The Concrete Convention and Exposition in Las Vegas, NV, USA, to participate in the Pervious Concrete Cylinder Competition. Pervious #concrete #cylinder Student Competition underway here in #vegas! #ACIConvention pic.twitter.com/QNZpVulCx9— AmericanConcreteInst (@ConcreteACI) October 14, 2018 Teams are being challenged to apply sustainability concepts and to use their knowledge of concrete mixture design by producing pervious concrete which balances permeability and splitting tensile strength. Teams are additionally being challenged to develop a mixture design which demonstrated cementitious efficiency; i.e. maintaining the overall performance of the mix with the lowest amount of cementitious material. A report that documents the team’s cylinder production process and ability to generate an accurate mix design will also be scored. ACI's nationally recognized student competitions give students the opportunity to participate in interesting and educational concrete projects. Winners will be announced at the Student Lunch on Monday, October 15, 2018. Learn more about ACI Student Competitions.
