ACI is pleased to announce its sponsorship of the International Code Council’s 2018 Building Safety Month. Specifically, ACI will be sponsoring the week of May 1-5, 2018, focusing on partnering with code officials to build stronger communities, improving education, and promoting standards for a safer tomorrow. Week 1’s purpose aligns with ACI’s mission of advancing the concrete industry through the development, dissemination, and adoption of its consensus-based codes, specifications, and practices that detail concrete materials, design, and construction. ACI documents such as ACI 562-16, Code Requirements for Assessment, Repair and Rehabilitation of Existing Concrete Structures parallels with the topic of Building Safety Month. ACI 562-16 was developed to provide design professionals involved in the assessment of existing concrete structures a code for the assessment of the damage and deterioration, and the design of appropriate repair and rehabilitation strategies. This code provides the minimum standards needed to ensure proper assessment, repair, and rehabilitation of existing structural concrete buildings, members, systems and where applicable, nonbuilding structures.
