Abstract:
The quality assurance program for the concrete used in the final stage of the Guri Dam in Venezuela was based on a well-trained inspection and testing force and good communications between inspection and contractor personnel. Systems were developed to insure effective materials acceptance testing, concrete production inspection and testing, and concrete construction inspection. The use of ice as a coolant in concrete production made the monitoring of aggregate moisture content a critical part of the program.
