Abstract:
The rapidly increasing costs of road construction and maintenance have been of great concern for years. An experimental development in Israel may offer a plausible alternative to existing methods. It is proposed that the new system, which uses concrete sa;ndwich slabs, may provide a higher quality surface than asphalt and require a lower initial investment competitive with asphalt surfaces. The system may also prove viable for floor slab construction. Applications for the method, and the results of an experimental and economical study are described.
