Abstract:
Twenty-two specification documents from various counties are reviewed with reference to torsion design. Sixteen of these documents are found to specify design requirements concerned with torsion. These design specifications are compared in terms of torsional stress calculations, allowable torsional shear stresses, and torsional reinforcement. Numerical xamples are given to illustrate the vorious design procedures. Appended are English translations of excerpts dealing with torsion, taken from reinforced concrete design codes various countries.
