Abstract:
During this presentation, the concrete vibrator’s applied energy will be defined and how the mechanical energy effects the properties of pavement mixtures. The research that began in the late 1990s in finding more compatible vibration frequencies for mixture changes, has progressed to developing technologies that help measure and match concrete workability levels to controlled energy applications. The department of transportation accepted usage practices will be discussed, along with the common pavement surface distresses that can be generated by poor vibration practices. The future of workability/vibrator data collection from test tool development and vibrator performance information for paving machine integration and automation will also be covered.
