Abstract:This Hot Topic Session addresses aspects of construction on projects that demand a 100+-year service life. The session will provide perspectives from the diverse set of players involved in these projects. This includes owners charged with balancing the requirements of the project with the expectations of the public; design engineers who must develop plans and specifications that must address the complexity of the structural, durability, and constructability requirements of the project; contractors who must implement these demands; and materials testing laboratories that need to validate the durability of the materials.
