Abstract:
An axial compression experiment of reinforced concrete columns confined with carbon fiber reinforced polymer(CFRP) sheets was tested. The effects of concrete strength, the way of CFRP sheets wrapped and the tensile strength of CFRP on the ultimate bearing capacity and deformation properties of reinforced concrete columns confined with CFRP are studied. The results indicate that the increasing concrete strength will reduce the reinforcement effect of CFRP sheets, and the strength effect of CFRP will be gradually reduced too.The reinforcement effect of high-strength CFRP is better in the case of low concrete strength. The reinforcement way of entirely wrap of reinforced concrete columns confined with CFRP is better than the reinforcement way of interval wrap under the condition of same volumn reinforcement rate of CFRP sheets.
