Abstract:
Describes 50-year-long construction of the Baha'i Temple in Wilmette, Ill. The entire nine-sided structure is sheathed in ornamental precast concrete panels. The 90 ft (27.4 m) diameter dome is clad, both inside and out, with precast shells of intricately pierced precast concrete, allowing light to flood in by day and out at night.
