Abstract:
Earthquakes in the Republic of Guatemala during the years 1917 and 1918 have given the writer an unusual opportunity to observe the resistance of old and modern buildings in Central America. It may not be out of place to begin by noting that the earth movements, where any earthquakes occur, move differently, according to the kind of earthquake.
