Abstract:
A large portion of the sand and gravel deposits in the Middle West have from 60 to 65 per cent of material below the 1/4-in. sieve, and 30 to 50 per cent of coarser material. There is thus an excess of sand when viewed from the specifications for concrete. Other deposits have an excess of coarse material.
