Abstract:
Chloride-induced corrosion of reinforcing bars has been a major cause of premature deterioration of many concrete bridges. Because of the need for an economical, corrosion-resistant bar, several new bars have recently been introduced to the industry. W compared the corrosion resistances of several of these bars in heavily salted concrete blocks with that of conventional carbon steel bars and austenitic stainless steel bars. This article discusses the results of the study obtained thus far.
