Abstract:
Drying shrinkage is a trait of concrete that, if poorly controlled or managed, can lead to serviceability problems, reduced durability, and even system failures. Cracks from restraint of shrinkage can reduce the performance life of structures or cause general durability problems. This article describes a project where a shrinkage-reducing admixture (SRA) was employed to reduce the number of shrinkage cracks in a concrete slab-on-ground.
