Abstract:
This paper describes the development of a method for the control of seepage into the excavation areas of the right abutment, and through the right abutment, at the Chief Joesph Dam project on the upper Columbia River in the State of Washington. Laboratory studies are presented on various types of grout mixtures, as well as techniques and procedures for drilling in coarse gravel by jetting methods, procedure for grouting pervious gravels and the efficancy of grouting treatment.
