Abstract: Concrete has brought to the architect and structural engineer new techniques of design with fresh possibilities of form and shape. By its use, enclosed space can take many shapes other than the rectangle to which low tensile materials such as natural stone had once limited it. The evolution and potential of these concrete space structures is briefly presented.
