Abstract:
Modifications to the finite element method are described which allow the estimation of the load carrying characteristics of a reinforced concrete shear wall frame system. Cracking of the concrete is taken into account by a modification of the stiffness properties of the affected elements. Nonlinear behavior of concrete is approximated by classical plasticity theory.
