Abstract:
A simplified method for design of mat foundations on elastic soil mediums is presented. The paper reccommmends methods to determine modulus of subgrade reations and methods to calculate the moments, shear forces, and deflection at critical points in the mat with the help of charts. An example is given to show the use of the charts.
