Abstract:
The Capacity Based Filter presented in this article provides an efficient and reliable way of identifying critical design forces from the structural analysis of all types of concrete structures from a simple building to an offshore platform. Unlike other methods, it uses the capacity of an initial section to properly consider the interaction that exists between force components, such as between axial force and bending moment. In addition, the Capacity Based Filter provides valuable insight into the nature of the critical forces. Thus it enables designers to quickly identify problem load cases or problem elements and make efficient design decisions.
