Abstract:
While cements containing 10 to 15% interground limestone are relatively new to the U.S. market, they offer an excellent opportunity to reduce the environmental footprint of concrete. Officials in Colorado and Utah have taken the initiative to be leaders in sustainable construction by allowing the use of portland-limestone cements in transportation projects. Projects presented in the article demonstrate that paving concrete made with portland-limestone cement can achieve specified strength and durability requirements.
