Abstract:
The Recommended Practice for Selecting Proportions for Structural Lightweight Concrete (ACI 211.2-69) presents methods for designing structural lightweight concrete mixes, emphasizing their adjustment by employing a specific gravity factor. This in turn enables calculation of effective displaced volumes for the lightweight aggregate fractions in the mixture. Developed via a pycnometer, these factors are presented as a continuous function for a range of aggregate moisture contents. Also included in the Standard are adjustment guides as well as field control pointers.
