Abstract:
This paper reviews the philosophy of the 1971 ACI Building Code Sections on Shear and the revisions recently proposed by ACI Committee 426. The design of reinforced and prestressed beams for shear is discussed. In addition, the use of shear friction and the design of deep beams and corbels is discussed.
