Abstract:
A new pedestrian bridge was recently constructed at the University of Miami (UM) campus. To demonstrate UM’s commitment to innovation and sustainability, fiber-reinforced polymer (FRP) bars and tendons were used in the structure in place of conventional steel reinforcement. The article describes details of FRP reinforcement in various elements of the bridge, site construction, and load testing.
