Abstract:
Reviews the history of use of steel fiber reinforcement in shotcrete in Canada. Compares the performance of steel fiber versus wire mesh reinforced shotcrete. Reviews shotcrete mix designs, batching, mixing, supply, application procedures, and the properties of hardened steel fiber reinforced shotcrete. Presents examples of the use of steel fiber reinforced shotcrete for support of underground openings in Canada, where shotcrete for support of underground openings has been used since the 1960s, and steel fiber reinforced shotcrete has been used since the early 1980s.
