Abstract:
Structural thermal breaks (STBs) were used to construct the Cedar Springs Retirement Residence in North Vancouver, BC, Canada. STBs minimize heat loss through the building’s concrete eyebrow and balcony connections. They thereby ensure occupant comfort and minimize energy costs, and they prevent condensation on interior slab and ceilings.
