Abstract:
A pilot two-lane pavement project was recently completed in Florida using bottom ash as a partial aggregate replacement in portland cement concrete. The ash was produced at a waste-to-energy (WTE) facility in Florida. Construction of the roadway demonstrated that incorporation of WTE bottom ash did not adversely affect the workability or placement of the concrete.
