MINI SESSION: Aspects of ICF Walls: Design, Construction, and Performance

Provide attendees with: understanding of use of Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) as non-destructive testing to confirm the absence or presence of voids, design of shear walls using ICFs, and report of study by USRC of Earthquake Performance of Buildings Constructed of various materials including ICF walls.
Learning Objectives:
(1) Describe practical experience gained by a consulting professional engineer who used ground penetrating radar as a non-destructive method to confirm the absence or presence of voids in ICF walls;
(2) Demonstrate a structural design example of the design and construction of shear walls with ICFs;
(3) Discuss the methodology of analysis of Earthquake Performance Comparison of Multifamily, Multistory Apartment Buildings Constructed with Various Materials;
(4) Analyze the results of an investigation conducted by the USRC regarding Earthquake Performance Comparison of Multifamily, Multistory Apartment Buildings Constructed with Various Materials including ICFs walls.
