Constructible Design and Construction Productivity: ACI's New Focus on Both

Description: Constructible design allows the full productivity potential of contemporary construction techniques, systems, and equipment to be realized. With a better understanding of construction, designers can improve the constructability of their designs and thereby improve jobsite productivity. This presentation will discuss an upcoming ACI constructability training program that will target structural engineers, material specifiers, and other designers.

A Condensed Look at Liquid Densifiers

Description: Silicate-based liquid surface treatments react with available calcium hydroxide to convert it to CSH. These silicate treatment products are referred to as surface hardeners and/or densifiers. Their effectiveness depends on the amount of calcium hydroxide available which curing enhances but conflicts with pozzolans and carbon dioxide. Silicate-based liquid surface treatments are often used to improve the appearance of the floor when "polished" by successive scrubber passes. Is there a measurable improvement in wear resistance and does increased CSH effectively stop vapor transmission?
