The ACI Egg Protection Device Competition was held on Sunday, October 27, 2025, during the Fall 2025 ACI Concrete Convention in Baltimore, MD, USA.
Thirty-seven teams from the USA, Mexico, Ecuador, Egypt, Peru, Guatemala, Chile, the Philippines, and Puerto Rico submitted projects for judging in this year’s competition sponsored by American Concrete Institute, S801 Student Competitions Committee, ACI Committee 239 - Ultra-High-Performance Concrete, 239-E Educational Outreach, and the 124 Concrete Aesthetics Committees.
Design and build the highest-impact load-resistant ultra-high-performance concrete (UHPC) egg protection device (EPD). Learn about and report on sustainability, durability, impact resistance, and other benefits of UHPC. Teams were judged in two categories – Technical Performance and Aesthetics. Cash prizes were awarded ranging from $750 USD, $500 USD, and $250 USD for first, second, and third prizes respectively for Technical Performance.
Egg Protection Device Technical Performance:
ACI hosts two team-based student competitions every year for undergraduate students in conjunction with the ACI Concrete Convention. The ACI FRP Composites Competition will be held on March 29, 2025 at the Hyatt Regency O’Hare in Rosemont/Chicago, IL, USA. Registration will open November 3,2025 and close on February 3, 2026.
