This spring, 113 universities worldwide will be recognized as ACI Outstanding Student Chapters for exemplary activities conducted during the 2025 calendar year. The award recipients will be formally announced at the ACI Student Awards Program, held on Monday, March 30, 2026, during the ACI Concrete Convention in Rosemont/Chicago, IL, USA.
The ACI Student Chapter Award Program honors student chapters that demonstrate exceptional achievement and alignment with ACI’s strategic goal of expanding participation while delivering meaningful value to its members. These chapters advance ACI’s mission by creating opportunities for professional and academic development and by strengthening connections between students, ACI, and local professional chapters.
In addition to achieving Outstanding Student Chapter status, Kongu Engineering College (KEC) in Tamil Nadu, India, was named the 2025 Distinguished Student Chapter of the Year after earning the highest cumulative point total. KEC’s faculty advisor, Dr. Gobi S. Rampradheep, was also honored as the 2025 Distinguished Faculty Advisor of the Year, recognizing his leadership and commitment to student engagement.
While participation in ACI Student Competitions and the organization of campus events and meetings are central components of chapter activity, student chapters also engage in a wide range of initiatives. These include construction site tours, research sessions, technical presentations, community outreach and educational programs, and other professional development and networking opportunities that support student growth and industry readiness.
ACI Student Chapters typically consist of undergraduate and graduate students pursuing degrees in civil engineering, construction management, concrete industry management, and architecture.
Currently, ACI supports 371 student chapters worldwide, including 79 domestic and 292 international chapters, with most sponsored by a local professional ACI chapter. The minimum requirement to establish a student chapter is 15 ACI student members at a university.
Students and educators interested in learning more about ACI student chapter activities are encouraged to attend the following events during the upcoming spring convention:
