Description

The cement and concrete industry is shifting from cements that are predominantly clinker-based (>95%) to systems to systems with lower clinker contents. The history of limestone additions to cement will be discussed with respect to how these changes impact chemical reactions and properties. This presentation will discuss the shift from conventional mixtures to mixtures with higher volumes of conventional supplementary cementitious materials (SCMs) and alternative supplementary cements. Finally, the implications on curing and placement will be discussed.
