The presentation reviews the author’s research on Values-Based Leadership [VBL] concepts applied to ethical engineering and project management professionals, offers an Ethical Decision-Making Framework for engineering and project professionals to consider, and, reviews the behaviors and aspects of the Ethical Project Manager.
The Ethics in Project Management research study considered the applicability of the VBL construct to the processes of managing major projects in different industries and applications. The purpose of the research study is to determine the suitability of a VBL approach for leading project teams, with a focus on improving the partnerships within industrial programs. The study assesses the eleven leadership values postulated in the criteria for the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award as means to establish an ethical rubric within project-driven industries. The research study uses a quantitative approach (survey) to assess the critical elements of this topic. In addition, the presentation reviews the six core principles of Values-Based Leadership postulated by G.W. Fairholm.
