Table of Contents

Learning Objectives

• Explain methods to reuse returned fresh concrete using admixtures that divert plastic concrete to usable discrete particles.

• Describe the changes in admixture technology in the last 20 years and how they allow the concrete producer to develop mixtures continuously monitoring properties of concrete, such as target slump, through the delivery of concrete to construction sites.

• Recall how waterproofing admixtures with self-healing properties can reduce water penetration and help reduce ASR damage and other damage to concrete.

• Explain how chemical admixtures are used to allow the use of Supplementary Cementitious materials while still meeting the project specifications and schedule requirements.
