Abstract:
The use of microcomputers in the design and construction of reinforced concrete structures has some distinct advantages. The affordability and increased capability of these computers in recent years makes them a viable tool for use in routine work. It is suggested that organizations such as the American Concrete Institute prepare and market design programs for microcomputers. The author believes that question of using artificial intelligence deserve serious study and cautions against considering computers as a human substitute.
