Abstract:
Construction plays a vital role in the socio-economic growth of any nation, and building materials are its most important resources. Both the consumption and production of cement have been growing rapidly in the developing world and it appears that the demand for concrete in the third world may continue to escalate. The author takes a look at current trends, predicts that the use of construction materials such as concrete will rise, and urges more intense research and development.
