Abstract:
Paving streets with concrete was not always taken for granted as it is today. At the turn of the century, many were opposed to street paving and controver-sies arose frequently-as one did in the Town of Newton, N.J., in 1915. This article concerns the paving of Spring Street as the issue was reported in the pages of the New Jersey Herald and the Sussex County Democrat. Spring Street is the oldest concrete street of record in New Jersey.
