Abstract:
Design formulas for two-way reinforced concrete slabs are given in the ACI Buildina Reaulations (318-41). No derivations, however, are included for these formulas. While outstanding scientific works are at hand dealing with this problem Timoshenko, Wester-gaard, etc.), it is obvious that t ey are out of reach h for the averaqe office desianer. The simplified method presented; developed by Dr. Henri Marcus, may clarify certain principles and help visualize the effect of the torsional moments.
