Presents a general form of. the slope-deflection equa-ion that applies to members of any moment of inertia variation. Equations for elastic constants and fixed-end moments are derived for the general beam or column as well as for specific cases. The method of computing the "equivalent haunch" of both the beam and the column at their intersection is also treated. A numerical exam illustrates the importance of investigation and the influence of the moment of inertia variation on the bending moments. A comprehensive series of design charts ives all constants necessary to design haunched b members.
