Abstract:
The tests for which the data are presented were undertaken to determine the effect of four ponolanic materials two ty es of volcanic ash, blast furnace slag, and burnt sale, on the strength and shrinkageof mortars. The compressive strengths of mortars made with the blended cements were less at early a es than those of portland cement mortars but at 90 ays and 8 greater, with continued moist curing, higher strengthswere obtained. During initial drying, shrinkage of blended mortars was greater than that of the portland cement mortars.
