Title: System for Strength Evaluation of Concrete Bridges*
Author(s): K. G. Tamberg and Peter Smith
Publication: Journal Proceedings
Appears on pages(s): 888-893
Keywords: bridges (structures) ; concretes; cracking (fracturing) ; deterioration; durability; evaluation;loads (forces) ; reinforced concrete; strength:stress analysis; vibration.
Abstract:A logical framework is developed for the strength evaluation of existing concrete bridges. To establish estimates of the physical conditions of a structure, any distress present is taken into consideration by determining its cause and effect to date, and likely rate of progression. Using analytical or analytical and experimental means, the strength of the structure can then be evaluated, and load ratings specified as a function of time.
