Abstract:
Large air and water pockets observed in cores taken from well vibrated concrete pavements studied, indicating several para-meters may influence volume of entrapped air in thin concrete sections compacted with spud vibration. Results suggest use of surcharge may be beneficial in reducing entrapped air, and that crushed stone concrete mixes may yield lower air content than round stone.
