Abstract:
The conception, analysis, design and construction of the 314 ft span precast concrete roof of the new San Juan Municipal Coliseum is described. The hyperbolic paraboloid shell roof consists of a large number of 8 ft square prefabricated lightweight concrete slabs supported by a preten-sioned, prestressed cable net, which permitted the roof to be constructed without the use of a shoring system.
