Abstract:
An equivalent frame method based on equivalent beams and un-modified columns, previously developed for sidesway analysis of flat plate structures, is now extended for the case of vertical loading. Required formulas for appropriately defined fixed end moments and slab edge continuity moments are given. The method approximates intrinsic stiffness properties by contrast to the ACI method based on equivalent columns. It can be applied for strength design based on elastic analysis.
