This reference manual assists engineers and designers to apply the ACI Building Code. Thirty-five chapters deal with specific design provisions of the Code and include sample problems and applications. This seventh edition addresses the 1999 edition of ACI-318 and as in the last two editions, column and slab design examples have been worked out using PCA's computer software (programs PCACOL and ADOSS) as well as manually. The text and design examples have been revised to reflect, where possible, comments received from users of the "notes" who suggested improvements in wording, identified errors, and recommended items for inclusion or deletion. The primary purpose for publishing this manual is to assist the enginer and architect in the proper application of the 318-99 design standars. The emphasis is placed on "how to use" the code. This manual is also a valuable aid to educators, contractors, materials and products manufacturers, building code authorities, inspectors, and others invloved in the design, construction, and regulation of concrete structures.
