Abstract:
Urban areas are getting more crowded every day. The construction of tall buildings is increasing due to expensive lands, and there is a need to keep all the utilities and infrastructure condensed in a smaller area. At the same time, the tendency is to avoid the use of automobiles inside the cities to help reduce pollution and hours of nonproductive activity. The United States was the first country to start this movement, mainly in New York and Chicago. Recently, other countries such as Korea, Japan, and China are also joining this trend. On the other hand, in countries such as United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia, the main purpose is to construct these types of buildings to create a landmark for the city. The talk will be focused on the description of the tallest building in Mexico: Torre Koi. Torre Koi is considered the tallest concrete building in Latin America.
