Abstract:
Reviews the treatment in design codes of joints between reinforced concrete members of similar depths, and the background to that treatment. Tests designed to study the effectiveness of hanger reinforcement at the intersection of beams of similar depth are reported. It is concluded that provisions for design of hanger reinforcement should be included in the ACI building Code.
