Abstract:
A multispan cable stayed bridge consists of more than three spans without intermediate anchor blocks, which would break the continuity. The problem with this type of bridge is its capacity to withstand alternated live loads. In this article the different typhologies for a multi-span cable stayed bridge are analysed, establishing which of them are the most appropriate ones to resist this kind of efforts. First of all, the classic typhologies, fan and harp, are analysed, considering different types of join between pier, pylon and deck. Then, other different stays configurations are studied: the arrangement of pylons with alternated different height along the bridge, the use of additional stays to rigid the pylons with each other, the overlapping fans of stays in the main spans, or the says located under the deck.
