Abstract:
In this paper a theoretical study about deformations in reinforced concrete beams is presented. The beams have similar characteristics to those considered by Branson to obtain the equivalent inertia. In this study the deformation of the beam is simulated by a mathematical model taking into account cracking. An expression for the equivalent inertia for the calculation of deflections in reinforced concrete cracked beams which is very similar to the one obtained by Branson has been obtained.
