Title: Introduction of random errors in the cable installation process in cable-stayed bridges
Author(s): Carrillo Alonso, L.; Astiz Suárez, M. A.
Appears on pages(s): 203 - 224
Keywords: Cable-stayed bridges; Erection process; Errors in stay adjustment; Tension method; Pre-deformation method.
Abstract:In this paper, a method is proposed that allows the simulation of the introduction of random errors into the construction process of cable-stayed bridges during the installation of the cables. It particularly takes into account errors in cable tensioning, in the measurement of the shortening of cables, and in the positioning of the cable anchors. Once the proposed method was validated, it was applied to a real structure, and the effects which were generated in the different structural members have been analysed at the construction stages, at the final stage of the construction process, and on the service situation with traffic.
